What are gites for holiday

Well, in France, our type of self catering holiday accommodation are
called Gites or Gîtes.
The French word "Gîtes"
is pronounced "jeets" and are defined as being
houses
for holiday rental in France and not to be confused with
chambre d'hôtes
which are "bed and breakfast" accommodation. As an alternative to
regular
chambre
d'hôtes
or a b and b near Carcassonne (Bed
& Breakfast), you may wish to rent our gite for a few days
or a weekend break, providing it is available. So why "B&B
Carcassonne" when you can get a whole house? You can of
course go and buy your own French bread and breakfast from

is a modern, spacious, detached, self-catering holiday bungalow
( or French Gîte ) of about 89m² benefiting from superb 200km views. |

Garden furniture including sun-loungers, tables, chairs, parasol
and portable barbecue. Rigid plastic paddling pool for infants (1
metre x 1 metre - maximum water depth 17cm) available. The gite is South
facing and the sun is in your private garden all day unless you want
to sit in the shade on the patio or the shade provided by the trees.

Gîte Sleeps 6 persons
in 3 Bedrooms: 1 double-bed (14m²) and 2 other bedrooms (14m² and
12m²) with 2 single-beds in each and there are also two small settee/sofa
beds in the lounge-diner. Wardrobes, bedside tables and chest
of drawers. Bed linen and towels are supplied at a small extra charge per person,
or you may bring your own. |

| Looking West towards Rue
La Royale from the gite garden which is a narrow
country lane (and yes, I have got the right photo!) Much traffic?
No, normally one or two passing vehicles every hour or maybe
none at all! See the Picture Gallery page for a photo of
Rue La Royale. For an overview, Google Earth "rue la
royale, villardonnel" . The picture below shows more of the gite
garden from a broader perspective. |
This is the view South-East
from inside the Gite garden. You can see the medieval city of
Carcassonne clearly with binoculars, and without, after 4PM.
La Cité (the medieval city of Carcassonne) is 25
minutes away in the car. The Cathare castles of Lastours are
10 kms North-East of La Royale (10 minutes by car). |
